Scenariusz Wentwortha Millera "Stoker" zostanie zekranizowany

"The Playlist":
Ridley Scott Adding 'Stoker' To The Long List Of Directorial Gigs?
Carey Mulligan & Jodie Foster Attached To Star

File under rumor if it makes you feel a little better, but we just received a good tip in the mail from very good sources (and there's corroborating evidence everywhere).

The email contains the script to "Stoker" a screenplay by Ted Foulke and it's already a Scott Free production (Ridley & Tony Scott) that's set up at Fox Searchlight. Apparently the screenplay has a lot of buzz at the moment in Tinseltown which is making it a hot property.

We've been told that Ridley himself is eyeing to direct the piece and that Jodie Foster and Carey Mulligan are attached to star.

Quickly thumbing through a few recent issues of Production Weekly, indeed Foster and Mulligan are mentioned as possible leads. And on top of that, Pajiba actually quietly reported the two actresses involvement yesterday (Update: The LATimes have chimed in and reconfirmed Mulligan too. Interestingly enough, we had difficult time finding a CV for Foulke and this might be why — apparently he's the pen name of "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller).

As they write, "Stoker" focuses on a moody teenager (named Indiana Stoker) who — after the death of her father — has to deal with a mysterious uncle who returns to spend time with the family. We assume that role will be Mulligan's? More when we read the script this weekend.

So will Scott direct? He's definitely interested so far, but as we know, Scott is attached to direct 10-plus (give or take) projects and who knows when those will go into production (last we heard the "Alien" prequels are coming next). As Movieline loves to quip, this might be another Ridley Scott picture that he signs on to officially (eventually never) direct.

Ridley Scott's 'Stoker' Starring Jodie Foster & Carey Mulligan?

Jodie Foster, Ridley Scott, Carey Mulligan

There are two halves to this news story, and while one is very solidly confirmed, the other should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being. Yesterday Pajiba reported that Jodie Foster and Carey Mulligan were attached to star in Stoker, a story scripted by Ted Foulke which tells the story of a moody teenager who, after the death of his father, has to deal with a mysterious uncle who returns to spend time with their family. According to The Playlist, this casting has been confirmed by the recent issue of Production Weekly, but they've also been tipped off that Sir Ridley Scott may be eyeing the project as a potential directing gig.

This isn't entirely out of left field since Stoker is already set up at Fox Searchlight with Scott Free, but when you look at the plethora of projects Scott has on his upcoming slate, it's just one more on a growing pile. In addition to two incoming Alien prequels, there's also an adaptation of the board game Monopoly, a movie about the Gucci fashion dynasty, an American remake of the UK's Red Riding Trilogy and a lot more as a producer. I'm sure Scott's attention is mostly focused on the Alien prequels right now, but if he does direct this it would be a ways down the road. But stay tuned as I'm sure we'll get more info on this sooner or later.

Went kiedyś wspominał o tym projekcie:
Have you written anything or have any plans?

I have. I’ve written a treatment, which is an outline, for a movie. It’s kind of love story with a Hitchcock twist. A bit of a thriller, and when I go back to Los Angeles, on my weekends off from the show, I meet with writers and producers and try to get people excited about it, try to get a team of people together who are going to help me get this movie made. Of course there’s a great role for me! I’m at that stage of my career right now where it’s not just about auditioning for the projects that are out there. It’s about generating your own projects and that’s really something that excites me.

Does it have a title?

Yes. It’s called Stoker, which is a nod to Bram Stoker who wrote Dracula. It’s got a lot of elements of the Dracula mythology in its story.

Will you play the Dracula character?

It’s not a vampire story. It’s not about vampires at least with the teeth and the desire to suck your blood but it is a thriller and it is about an individual who preys on the innocent.

Filmweb:
Ridley Scott prawdopodobnie zostanie reżyserem filmu "Stoker".

To Jodie Foster ("Odważna") i Carey Mulligan ("Była sobie dziewczyna").
